Human beings and animals live together in nature.Animals provide material conditions for human survival and development, and enrich people's cultural connotations.Individuals hold different animal stereotypes about different animals. All these animal stereotypes affect people's attitudes and behaviors towards animals, and also affects attitudes and behaviors toward human beings. This study uses the stereotype content model as a tool to examine the content model and implicit effects of animal stereotypes in Chinese culture through explicit and implicit research methods. In Study 1,the pilot study obtained 25 species of common Chinese animals through open nominations.Formal research obtained 25 warmth and competence dimension of animals scores by traits assessment method, and used cluster analysis method to obtain 4 stereotypes of 25 animals formed by combination of warmth and competence. In Study2,the nouns and traits assessment methods were used to obtain the human-associated groups and warmth-competence dimension scores matched with common animals.Correlation analysis with animal warmth scores showed that there is a match in animals and related groups between warmth and competence dimensions.Study 3 used the AMP to study the implicit effects of animal stereotypes.Experiment 1 use the classical AMP semantic paradigm work out that at the implicit level, people can also perceive the animal s warmth and competence dimension, and there is a primacy of warmth.Experiment 2,through the AMP paradigm, workout that the second priming words showing positive animals(HW-HC)can improve the evaluation of the negative human targets of the first priming words, and the second priming words showing negative animals(LW-LC)can reduce the evaluation of the positive human target of the first priming words, indicating that animal stereotypes can influence the evaluation of human beings.Lastly,on the basis of previous theories and the results, limitations and future prospects were discussed and the theoretical, methodological, and practical implications of the present research were presented.
