China has made significant headway in the economic reform and has attained tremendous achievements in socioeconomic life since the reform and opening-up in 1978.Recent years have witnessed a spurt of increasing number of foreign companies entering China with the development and integration of economic globalization growth,so the desire for economic cooperation between Chinese and foreign enterprises becomes increasingly stronger.Therefore,in order to help the foreign partners know about the related regulations of Chinese company and promote international cooperation,translating articles of association should be paid enough attention to.An articles of association is the fundamental legal documents for the establishment of a company and the determination of a company's rights and obligations,and also the legal basis for foreign exchanges.This report is C-E Translation of Articles of Association of China Volant Industry Co.,Ltd,so translating such legal text is good for the company to develop business communication and activities.The core of the Skopos Theory is: translation methods and principles are determined by the deliberate purpose of the entire translation behavior,so the theory has some significance for translating the company's articles of association to achieve the functionality and purpose of the source text.On the basis of Skopos Theory,the author mainly analyzes several translation difficulties while translating this project,which are specified with case studies.In view of the difficulties encountered in writing styles and prevalent conjunctions,the author adopts modal verbs and fixed sentence patterns appeared in English legal texts to reproduce the original language style and the standardized English legal text.For the long and complex sentences,the author proposes readjustment of word order,division and reconstruction solutions to achieve the accuracy and preciseness of the target language.For the serial verb constructions,adding linking predictive verbs and conversion of parts of speech strategies are adopted to effectively achieve the transformation of hypotaxis and parataxis,thus realizing intra-textual coherence of the translation.In addition,for non-subject sentences,through adding subjects and transforming into passive voice,the purpose of translation can be achieved on the basis of realizing the inter-textual coherence between the source text and target text.This report concludes three points as follows: first,project preparation and proofreading guarantee the translation quality.Second,the translator should select appropriate translation theoretical guidelines in translating,and this report is guided by the Skopos Theory,which provides a useful perspective for the translation of legal texts.Finally,this report attempts to present an effective case analysis method for the translation of legal texts,in order to provide some references by techniques to be employed in this translation report and make a little contribution to studies on the translation thereof.
