The excellent Chinese traditional culture has a long history and enjoys a high reputation in the world.As the Chinese government further promotes the “Cultural Going Global” project,there are more and more opportunities for Chinese culture going global and our national culture has begun to attract worldwide attention.As an important part of the Chinese national cultural heritage,Chinese ancient architecture,with its exquisite architectural and decorative arts,contains rich cultural elements with Chinese characteristics and carries heavy cultural connotation.At the same time,as the material carrier of HuXiang culture,Zhang Guying's Ancient Complex is also an important part of the Chinese cultural heritage and of great value to be recommended to the outside world.This C-E translation report takes The Treasure of Jiangnan(Southern Area of the Yangze River)Residential Buildings—Zhang Guying's Mansions(Excerpts)as the material of the translation task.It aims to explore how to adopt effective translation methods to translate ancient architectural texts,on the basis of the specific content and structural features of this text.The Treasure of Jiangnan(Southern Area of the Yangze River)Residential Buildings—Zhang Guying's Mansions(Excerpts)is a kind of textual material which is mainly based on transmit information and also has the function of cultural propaganda.In the process of translation practice,several difficulties are as follows: the translation of characteristic vocabulary of ancient architecture,the translation of Chinese Four-character Structure,the translation of related expressions of Chinese history and geography,the translation of long and difficult sentences and non-subject sentences.Based on concrete practice,it proves that the text function theory and communicative translation has a good guiding effect on the translation of this type of text.Therefore,this paper,based on communicative translation and a large number of case studies,summarizes the translation methods applicable to this type of texts as below.transliteration with literal translation,literal translation and transliteration with annotations are effective methods to translate characteristic vocabulary of ancient architecture;free translation,literal translation and omission to translate Chinese four-character Structure words;literal translation with annotations,transliteration with annotations and free translation to translate Chinese history and geography;reorganization,adding,omitting and voice conversion are adopted to translate non-subject sentences,long and difficult sentences.The report shows that when translating the unique texts of ancient residential buildings,the author should not only have a deep understanding of their cultural connotations,but also should use effective translation methods under the guidance of appropriate translation theories to achieve the purpose of cultural communication and language output,let the unique culture better go to the world.
