This Chinese-English translation report is based on an academic paper,which focuses on the dilemma and reform of rural elderly care service system in the new era.The source text is precise in language with Chinese characteristics and has a great number of long sentences.The translator will focus on the differences between Chinese and English under the guidance of skopos theory in order to keep coherent and be faithful to the original text.The source text which introduces the policies for the aged in China into the western countries could improve mutual exchange and learn the experience from each other on this issue.Besides,it could help the world attach importance to the issue of supporting for the aged and improve the quality of life of the elderly.Meanwhile,because it could help foreigners to understand China's efforts in supporting for the aged,it will also help to create a peaceful,friendly and responsible image of a country,so that the world's favor for China could be increased,and the attractiveness and influence of Chinese culture could be enhanced.This translation report consists of five parts.The first part is the description of translation task,including the introduction to the source text,translation background,and research significance;the second part is the literature review,including the studies abroad and in China about skopos theory and the application value;the third part is the description of the translation process,including translation preparation,translation process,and quality control;and the fourth part is the case analysis,which is the most important chapter in this report,including lexical level,syntactic level,and textual level;and the fifth part is the conclusion,aiming at summarizing the experience and lessons gained in this translation practice and looking forward to future translation work in daily life.
