A Report On C-E Translation Of The Memorandum Of Understanding On Verification The Project On Guangxi Comprehensive Elderly Care System

Guangxi is the front window of the opening and cooperation between China and ASEAN.Along with the rapid economic development and the increasing frequency of foreign exchanges,Guangxi is also actively expanding long-term growth with a series of policies on external financing.Since the 14th Five-Year Plan have put forward new requirements for our country's prolonged aged care,the Foreign Capital and Overseas Investment Division of the Development and Reform Commission of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region,where the author worked as an intern,applied as the first batch of Guangxi's comprehensive pension service system.For this sake,the author's translation task is to hand over the English translation of the Memorandum of Understanding for the Reconnaissance Mission for the Project on Guangxi Elderly Health Care Comprehensive System to the delegation of Asian Development Bank for feasibility assessment.The source text is composed of a contract signed by Foreign Capital and Overseas Investment Division and Asian Development Bank and five attachments,all of them are of legal nature.The translation process is carried out in the form of a report,where the author details the process and combs the gains and losses,aiming to shed light on similar translation.Guided by the Text Typology that is put forward by Katherine Reiss,the source text belongs to the informative text where an explication strategy should be employed.The author adopts specific translation methods in line with it.In the translation of lexicon and phrases,the source text is brimming with articles and terms.Therefore word-for-word translation is favored to keep the procedural consistency of the project.Except for this,the extension for those words and phrases that are of different bilingual habits helps to ensure the translation fair and accessible to the readers.In the translation of the sentences,the sentences are arranged densely and most of the whole sentence that rich in information,where non-subject sentences and conditional sentences are commonly used.The conversion and inversion methods are suitable for bettering logic and acceptability.There are further issues yet to be resolved,mainly related to the continuity and rearrangement of discourse.It is expected that a more rational translation is processed by the flexibility use of methods and strategies.
