With the continuous development of science and technology,the exchange and cooperation between China and other countries in the field of geological engineering are becoming more and more extensive.Geological engineering translation plays a pivotal role in the dissemination of international science and technology information.Therefore,the translation of geological engineering texts has become a top priority.Geological engineering English belongs to the category of scientific and technological English,which aims to disseminate scientific knowledge and popularize technical skills.English for science and technology possesses four unique properties:scientificity,literariness,popularity and interestingness,and the geological engineering English has the same features.It is of great importance for translators to remember the purpose of the translation and response of target readers.Under the guidance of skopos theory,this translation practice report studies the E-C translation of two internationally well-known papers on geological engineering,which carries certain academic and practical value.This report consists of four chapters.The first chapter is the task description which introduces the background,the characteristics of the source text and the significance of the research.The second chapter shows how the translation practice is conducted,including preparations before translation,translation process,and quality control.The third chapter is the case analysis,which mainly explores the strategies and methods for E-C translation of geological engineering texts at lexical,syntactic and discourse levels with the guidance of skopos theory.The fourth chapter summarizes the harvest and deficiency in the process of practice.By analyzing E-C translation of some concrete examples,it is expected that the research can assist Chinese learners in mastering the advanced knowledge of geological engineering and promote the development of geological engineering in China.
