This paper is a report on English-Chinese translation practice. The source texts were collected by the author during the internship in Porvair Selee Filtration Technology (Hubei) Co., Ltd. Those English texts are texts about processing and manufacturing industry, mainly describing manufacturing process and operation procedures about Silicon Carbide and Aluminum Oxide ceramic foam filters. Comparing source texts with translated texts, the report gives an integral description and analysis about this translation practice based on functionalist skopos theory. The report mainly consists of five chapters. The first chapter is a description of the practice, mainly delivering an introduction of this translation practice, research background and research significance of current English translation of science and technology. The second chapter is about the practice process, introducing the detailed procedures of completing this translation practice, including pre-translation preparation, translating process and after-translation correction. The third chapter describes theoretical foundation. It introduces functionalist skopos theory, guiding significance of skopos theory to manufacturing text translation and translation principles and standards of manufacturing text translation based on skopos theory. The fourth chapter is the case study, which is the key part of this paper. This part gives a hierarchical analysis of manufacturing text translation in accordance with the translation principles and standards based on skopos theory, and then summarize commonly used translation techniques of manufacturing text translation from the detailed case study. The fifth chapter is a conclusion of this translation practice, emphasizing the main procedures of the translation practice--- pre-translation preparation, translating process and after-translation correction, setting an example to explain the difficulties occurred during the process and the solutions, and summarizing five translation rules:a) make adequate preparations before translating; b) have a good knowledge of each field; c) know about the purpose of translation; 4) have a full understanding of the source texts; 5) correct the translated version carefully.
