A Report On The Translation Of Reassessing Maori Regeneration Under The Guidance Of Functional Equivalence Theory

This is an English-Chinese translation practice report.The author of this report takes an academic paper Reassessing Maori Regeneration written by an Irish linguist,Bernard Spolsky,as the source material,discussing the translation methods and technique that are used in the translation of academic papers under the guidance of the Functional Equivalence theory from three levels:vocabulary,syntax,and text.This report consists of five chapters.The first chapter introduces the translation project,the main content of the material,the introduction to the author,and the significance of translating academic papers.The second chapter describes a complete translation process,including pre-translation,while-translation,and the proofreading and the polishing of target text.The third chapter is about the Functional Equivalence theory proposed by Eugene Nida and the feasibility of applying the Functional Equivalence theory to translating academic papers.The fourth chapter is concerned with case analysis,in which the author of the report explores how to use translation methods and techniques to achieve functional equivalence between the source text and the target text under the guidance of the Functional Equivalence theory.The fifth chapter summarizes the whole translation practice report and the ability and translation skills translators need in the translation of academic papers.
