This report talks about the translation of Chinese academic papers from the perspective of Nida's Functional Equivalence theory.The tittle of the translation material is A Research into the Structure “Command Expression+Final Particle” in Tokyo Language in the Meiji Era.Based on the Functional Equivalence theory,this report aims to summary the barriers in the translation practice and explore methods of dealing with these problems.In the process of translation,the translator analyzes the difficulties in the academic paper from three levels,namely,lexical,syntactic and discourse.At the lexical level,the translator employs contrast,diction of words and nominalization to handle the translation of terms and some words.At the syntactic level,for the translation of long and complex sentences,the translator uses restructure and partition.At the discourse level,the translator analyzes values of the nominalization,passive voice and relative conjunctions from the perspective of objectivity and logicality in academic writing.After the translation practice,the translator realizes only abundant knowledge and preparations can achieve a successful translation.Meanwhile,the report is of great significance in the employment of Nida's Functional Equivalence theory,and it offers guidance for the future translation practice.
