With the adjustment of the world's industrial structure, the status of service trade in global trade has gradually increased and become a new engine of economic growth. However, research on service trade based on cultural differences is relatively rare and the research conclusions are inconsistent. Therefore,an in-depth study of the impact of cultural differences on the import and export of bilateral service trade is of profound significance for clarifying the role of cultural differences in the service trade and promoting the efficient development of trade in services. This thesis reviews both domestic and foreign papers related to how cultural differences affect international trade. Then the thesis analyses the information cost and contract cost brought by cultural differences and the resulting trade home bias phenomenon.Furthermore, combined with the internal and external mechanisms formed by consumer preferences, this thesis establishes a trade gravity model with consumer preferences, which provides a theoretical support for the suppression of cultural trade on trade in services.Using the OECD panel data of bilateral service trade from 2010 to 2016,this thesis take exports of bilateral service trade as explanatory variables and cultural distance as explanatory variables, introducing the remaining eight control variables for regression analysis.Through the whole samples divisions inspection, time dimension analysis, robustness test and further discussion,in this thesis, the following conclusions has been made.Firstly, from the results of the full sample test, cultural differences have a significant hindrance to the export of services.Secondly, from the regression results of the sub-sectors,the impact of cultural differences on the export of various sectors of service trade is different. The cultural differences have a greater impact on the high-tech intensity service trade sectors.Thirdly, from the analysis of the time dimension, the impact of cultural differences on service trade has increased over time.Fourthly, from the comparison of trading countries with different income levels, when OECD member countries are high-income countries, service trade is relatively less affected by cultural differences.Fifthly,by introducing the interactive items of international immigration and cultural differences, this thesis finds that the negative impact of overseas immigration on cultural differences has a significant positive adjustment effect. At last, this thesis puts forward the following suggestions. The enterprises should pay attention to the influence of cultural differences on trade in services and by building multinational talent team they can reduce the negative influence of cultural differences on the service trade. Our country should also adhere to cultural self-confidence and enhance cultural soft power and international influence to strengthen foreign trade and promote economic development.
