This translation practice report is based on the first two chapters of the linguistic work Is English Changing ?.The theoretical basis of the report is Skopos Theory and the core content of Skopos Theory is skopos rule, coherence rule and loyalty rule. The existing theories put the skopos rule as the main rule, while the other two rules are subordinate to the skopos rule. The author finds that the coherence rule and the loyalty rule are intertwined, actually. In addition, the author also finds that the three purposes in the skopos rule have progressions. The three purposes are the basic purpose of the translator, the communicative purpose of the translated text and the purpose of the special translation means. In translation practice, the communicative purpose should be the core of the skopos rule. The report is divided into four parts: the first chapter is an introduction of the project;the second chapter is an introduction of Skopos Theory;the third chapter mainly focuses on the whole translation process, namely, the preparation of this translation, the case analysis in the process of translation as well as the proofreading after translation;the fourth chapter is the summary of the project, including the experience of the translator and the direction of future efforts.Guided by Skopos Theory, the report selects some cases as examples and analyses the translation principles from the aspects of linguistic terms, complex sentences and discourse cohesion.Through this practice, the translator has not only improved the translation ability, but also the deeper understanding of the linguistic knowledge and the Skopos Theory.
