A Report On The Translation Of CDQ Instructions

With the rapid development of science and technology and the close exchanges among countries in the world,English for science and technology plays an increasingly important role as a useful tool for promoting the exchange of science and technology in all countries of the world.Therefore,the translation of scientific and technical texts has become a subject of in-depth discussion among scholars and experts at home and abroad.The translation material of this report is CDQ instructions,and it is a translation task of the translator during the internship of the translation company.This material is divided into six parts,which mainly introduces the various components of CDQ and their corresponding working principles.The target readers of this material is foreign device users,and it is used to make the target readers understand its device composition and working principles and use the equipment efficiently.The translation and analysis of CDQ instructions are made in this translation practice report under the guidance of Skopos theory.The Skopos theory holds that translation activities should use appropriate translation strategies and skills to convey the original information accurately based on the purpose of translation.It coincides with the characteristics of the technical text that requires the target language expresses the original information accurately and objectively.The translator analyzes the characteristics of scientific and technical texts from three aspects of vocabulary,sentence and text and summarizes the translation skills and strategies of scientific and technical texts using the specific examples in translation materials.A comparative analysis between the original translation and the corrected translation is conducted based on the three rules of Skopos theory.This practice proves that Skopos theory has a guiding role in the translation of scientific and technical texts.This paper aims to provide a reference for the translation of scientific and technical texts,especially for the translation of equipment instruction texts,so as to promote the quality of the translation of scientific texts.
