A Translation Report Of Informative Texts From The Perspective Of Translator's Subjectivity

The translation program in this report is an excerpt of History Education and Conflict Transformation—Conflict Transformation and History Teaching: Social Psychological Theory and Its Contributions which was published in March,2017.The program mainly introduces the conflicts transformation in the 21 century from the perspective of social psychological theory and the impact posed on history teaching.This translation program belongs to informative text,which contains a lot of social psychological proprietary vocabularies,difficult long sentences and passive sentences,making translation a tricky process.Differences between English and Chinese are obvious in this program.To polish the translation,the translator needs to mobilize his or her subjectivity,which is exactly what is advocated in the theory the translator's subjectivity.With the guidance of translator's subjective initiative theory,this paper adopts research methods of example analysis and discourse analysis and tries to explore the representations of translator's subjective initiative in the informative text.Because of the great differences between English and Chinese language characteristics,the writer first deepens study for the theory through literature reading and has further understanding for differences in English and Chinese.The results show that the translator's subjective initiative theory is operable in the informative text.The translator can choose the meaning according to the contexts,and complete the translation by using translation strategies of lexical addition and reduction,compound sentence separation,part of speech and sentence pattern conversion.
