With the continuous improvement of Chinese international status,cultural exchanges are especially important.Translation plays an essential role in the process of cultural communication.Literary translation is not only a conversion activity of different languages,but also an artistic recreation activity,as well as a cross-cultural communication activity.Fictions,as a part of literary works,not only provide domestic readers with excellent literature of different styles,but also further broaden their horizons and understanding of the writing styles of western literary works.“The Intermediate Class” written by American writer Sam Allingham and“Fungus” written by American writer David Gilbert are used as translation practice text for this report.Under the guidance of Nida's functional equivalence theory,translation strategies such as Venuti's domestication and foreignization are discussed on four levels concerning lexical,syntactic,textual and stylistic equivalences.Specific examples are used in this translation practice to analyze the problems in the translation process.In addition,translation skills are also discussed to solve those problems.The translation practice report enables readers to appreciate translation text,to understand the conditions of the American society,and to verify the significance of functional equivalence theory in guidance of translation practice.Through this translation practice,my translation has been improved,and knowledge has been further expanded,and translation experiences have been accumulated.
