Difficulties And Coping Tactics Of Business Interpreting

This report is based on the business interpreting practice conducted by the author in the meeting between Weber Shandwick and Turkish Airlines Guangzhou office.By reviewing the interpreting record,the author found out several difficulties she met and analyzed relevant coping tactics she adopted from the perspective of the Skopos Theory.During this interpreting task,the author met both linguistic and non-linguistic difficulties,such as unknown expressions,strong accent,interruption and lack of logic.To solve these problems,the author adopted tactics including enquiry,omission,integration and reorganization in accordance with the principles of business interpreting,meeting the requirements of the Skopos Theory.By analyzing this practice,the author summarizes several interpreting tactics to cope with relative challenges in the future and hopes that this report could give some inspirations to other interpreters in business settings.
