The fun teaching method is playing a more and more important role in primary school English teaching and its important effect on English learning cannot be ignored.Education in rural primary schools is an important part of basic education.Vocabulary is the basis of English learning and an essential condition for learning English,so its importance is self-evident.For primary school students,the fun teaching method is very flexible and has new and diversified forms,which is quite suitable for the physical and mental development of the pupils.This study tries to answer the following three questions by applying the fun teaching method to English vocabulary teaching practice in the primary school:1)What effect does the fun teaching method have on the students' interest in vocabulary learning in the rural primary school?2)What effect does the fun teaching method have on students' participation in English class of the rural primary school?3)How is the effect of the fun teaching method on English vocabulary learning of the rural primary school students?The experiment lasted for a semester.Those who have participated the experiment are 80 students from Class 1 and Class 2,grade 4 of aprimary school in Huaihua city.The final test papers for the fourth grade in Huaihua city from 2017 to 2018 were used as the testing tool.The students in both the experimental class and the control class were respectively given a pretest,an immediate test,two delayed tests and a post-test.Through the analysis of a series of data from the questionnaire and tests,the following research results are obtained: Firstly,the fun teaching method can improve primary school students' interest in English vocabulary and stimulate their potential in English learning.Secondly,the fun teaching method can make the learning atmosphere relaxed and pleasant,so that students have a high degree of participation in English class and the classroom atmosphere is active.Thirdly,the fun teaching method can greatly improve the effect of vocabulary learning.It is hoped that this study can provide a reference for the teaching of rural primary school English teachers and be conducive to the teachers' selection of teaching methods suitable for the physical and mental characteristics of primary school students,so as to improve the teaching quality and the learning effect.
