Monkey King is a hero idol of many people in the youth.Whether it is a "revolutionary" generation,"only child" generation,or "Internet" generation,every generation has its own unique understanding and memory on Monkey King.It should be said that in the nearly a hundred years history of modern China,the character image of Monkey King has changed for several times,but it can always summon about a common emotional identity among the public in China.Therefore,from the perspective of image creation,what is the difference between the Monkey King at that time and the Monkey King at present? What is the difference between the ideologies behind it? Therefore,taking the Monkey King in the film and television as the research object,the significance of this research is to examine the "changing process" of Monkey King's character image and the ideological construction behind it on the basis of historical presentation.Compared with Monkey King,lacking of human nature,in the literary works before the Ming Dynasty,this figure under Wu Chengen has full and social nature in The Journey to the West,which made it the classic image of literary works after the Ming dynasty.In Ming Dynasty,Monkey King,who was popular in the text of the novel,was affected by the collapse of the regime in the late Ming Dynasty and showed a distinct nationalist meaning.Especially in the late Qing period,Monkey King actively showed in the "refurbished novel",but also as a pre-modern figure opened the Chinese people to see the Western modern civilization from different perspective.After the Qing Dynasty,Monkey King began to be active on the opera stage,and experienced the gradual transformation from the "monster monkey" in the feudal imperial power discourse to the anti-feudal "warrior" in the revolutionary discourse.In 1941,the Wan Brothers' work Princess of Iron Fan brought the image of Monkey King to the animation screen for the first time.Facing the crisis of national fall,Monkey King become an "anti-Japanese war fighter" who firmly resists the invasion of foreigners.After the founding of the nation,China faced extremely compiled political situation.At this time,Monkey King has realized from the "power struggle" to "intelligent fight" that “broke the fog”.The reason why the image of Monkey King can summon the people's sense of identity is precisely because of its unique "national form" and "national content",which clearly fits the psychological demands of the Chinese people at that time.Entering the 1980 s,the image of Monkey King was reconstructed.China was at the crossroads of changing in the 1980 s,so monkey King was shaped as the seeker of "Where is the road" in the wave of social reform.At the same time,in literary and artistic consciousness' the "human nature" rhetoric,the Monkey King's human beauty successfully extradited people from the sad feelings of the Cultural Revolution,while the sublime construction of the national landscape draws people back into the positive conception and practice of the future of China in the new era.If the "Walker Sun" in the 1980 s still contains a heroic complex,then in the 1990 s when heroism was completely banished,Monkey King was once again relegated to a desolate and frustrated person,and contradiction and rebellion became the main features of popular psychology and youth culture of that era.However,the Monkey King image has not escaped from the fate of socialization after encountering the post-modern rebellion.With the advent of the new Century,Monkey King returns as a hero in the context of global cultural conservatism.However,the Monkey King,who was rewritten as a Hollywood superhero,did not establish a corresponding cultural and spiritual pillar for us,but exposed the crisis of China's long-standing cultural subjectivity hollow.Admittedly,although the image of Monkey King can be in line with China's social and cultural logic at that time,as well as meets the emotional needs of audiences in different times that are constantly shaped and updated,but its own unique Chinese spiritual symbol and cultural core should not be dispelled,which is also the questions which are unable to avoid for our future in China's cultural circle to be flourish and rebuild cultural confidence.
