A Cognitive Study Of Supernormal Predicate-object Structures Of M?i (?) Based On The Action Event Concept Frame

Previous studies have been made on supernormal predicate-object structures from cognitive perspective,which provide a solid foundation for this thesis.Previous studies lay more emphasis on the concept and syntactic level of “(m?i)?”.There are a few studies on the objects of m?i(?),especially on supernormal predicate-object structures of m?i(?).This thesis explores supernormal predicate-object structures of m?i(?)based on the theories: the Action Event Concept Frame,Conceptual Metaphor and Conceptual Metonymy.The major findings are as follows.(1)According to buying experience,this thesis simulates the action event frame of “(m?i)? ”.(2)By analyzing supernormal predicate-object structures of m?i(?)from corpus and authoritative dictionaries systematically and based on the action event frame of “(m?i)? ”,supernormal objects of m?i(?)are divided into two kinds: supernormal objects of m?i(?)by means of conceptual metaphor and supernormal objects of m?i(?)by means of conceptual metonymy.(3)The generation of supernormal predicate-object structures of m?i(?)is related to the action event frame of “(m?i)? ”,conceptual metaphor and conceptual metonymy.Supernormal predicate-object structures of m?i(?)are mainly generated by conceptual metonymy.Among these types,the structures about EVENT CONCEPT under the part-part type is the mainkind.The generation of supernormal predicate-object structures of m?i(?)mainly abides by the economy of language.Some conceptual elements are hidden and some conceptual elements are highlighted,each of which results in the difference between the formal structure and the conceptual structure,i.e.poor iconicity.The poorer the iconicity is,the stronger the economy of language is.Only based on the conceptual frame,we know what the implicit elements are and how the salient components are represented.The causes of the generation of supernormal predicate-object structures of m?i(?)lie in the influence of people's buying habits,the Han people's viewpoints of money and pragmatic functions.Through the research,we can better learn about the laws of such a similar phenomenon.
