A Report On Mock C-E Interpretation Of The Opening Ceremony Of 2018 China Auto Forum

China Auto Forum is an important communication platform for the auto experts and managers at home and abroad.And the opening speeches of China Auto Forum are a primary predictor and an important window to show the latest development of auto industry.Undoubtedly,auto forum interpreting plays an important role in promoting economic,scientific,technological and cultural exchanges between China and the world.However,up to now,few interpretation practices and researches on China Auto Forum have been made to popularize its influence.Besides,the interpreting quality cannot be ensured because of the lack of certain theoretical guidance.Meanwhile,the author finds that existing auto interpreting studies focus more on efforts distribution while neglecting comprehension barriers and analysis.This practice has proved that sound instant analysis can better help interpreters comprehend the source language and ensure the quality of interpretation.Thereby,in order to strengthen the influence and improve the interpreting quality of auto forum,this report selects the keynote speeches of the opening ceremony of 2018 China Auto Forum as practice and studies them based on Gile's interpretation comprehension equation,aiming to explore the comprehension barriers and the know-how to overcome them and then proposes corresponding strategies for high quality interpretation.There are five chapters in this report.The first chapter briefly introduces the research background,objectives,significance and structure of this report.The second chapter elaborates task description,including pre-interpreting preparation,interpreting process and post-interpreting quality evaluation.The third chapter presents the theoretical framework,including Gile's interpretation comprehension equation,Gile's interpretation model and the three comprehension barriers,namely,linguistic knowledge,extra-linguistic knowledge and analytical ability.The fourth chapter focuses on case study of some comprehension barriers that the interpreter encountered in practice and how to overcome them through revised interpreting,and proposes corresponding strategies to improve the interpreting quality.The last chapter is the conclusion that expounds the findings,limitations and suggestions after completing this report.Through this interpreting practice with case study,the author has the following findings: Firstly,Gile's interpretation comprehension equation is conducive totackling auto interpreting comprehension barriers and improving interpreting quality,so the practitioners should attach more importance to theoretical guidance for practice.Secondly,comprehension barriers are elaborated and corresponding strategies are summarized based on her own practice and refined on the extensive study of previous researches and others' experiences,which provide significant reference for the studies of auto interpreting and even for the other similar fields.Thirdly,this practice provides sufficient evidences that adequate pre-interpreting preparation and post-interpreting evaluation can ensure high interpreting quality.In brief,practitioners must accumulate professional knowledge and conduct introspection so considerately to achieve the desired success in interpretation.No doubt,the report should be further improved in some aspects.For instance,the interpreter should spend more time to enrich her professional knowledge and better her pre-interpreting preparation.Moreover,the report can be more convincing,and more examples should be cited for comparison and analysis if more in-depth studies of auto forum interpreting are made both in theory and in practice.
