An Interpretation Practice Report On Doctors-patients Communication From The Perspective Of Gile's Comprehension Equation

With the rapid development of China's economy and the increasingly close international exchange,more and more foreigners work and live in C hina.But due to different languages and cultures,it is difficult for them to take medica l treatment.Since traditional Chinese medicine has more and more impact on the world with its unique treatment and medication methods,medical interpretation in China is in high d emand.As a matter of fact,medical interpretation in C hina has just started to take off,so interpreters are faced with the high requirements and heavy workload.The kidney disease hospital that the author practiced as an intern is a specialized kidney disease hospital.So far,the hospital has received more than 5,000 patients from 148 countries.During the internship,the author once participated in many interpretation activities to communicate with patients.Combining interpretation experiences,under the guidance of Gile's Interpretation Comprehension Equation,this paper will discuss the application of the equation in the practice of medical interpretation from three aspects: knowledge of the language,extra-linguistic knowledge,and analytical ability.After analyzing the practice of specific medical interpretation,the author found that knowledge of the language,extra-linguistic knowledge,and analytical ability,are closely linked and mutually influence each other.The knowledge of the language and extra-linguistic knowledge need to be motivated by the analytical ability,which is built on the basis of the accumulation of knowledge of the language and extra-linguistic knowledge.Based on Gile's Interpretation Comprehension Equation,this paper discusses some relevant solutions by summarizing the experience and lessons of medical interpretation practices,hoping to help the medical interpreting learners and interpreters and lay a good foundation for future work.
