A Report On Consecutive Interpreting At The Conference Of Samoa-Chengdu Direct Flight From The Perspective Of Gile's Interpretation Comprehension Equation

With the increasing pace of globalization,as well as the rapid development of China's economy,China has a promising future to cooperate with other countries and regions.What's more,English is used in international cooperation more often,which requires qualified translations.This paper is a practice report on Samoa-Chengdu Conference on Direct Flight.The author selects a number of examples as case study to analyze the major difficulties and problems in consecutive interpreting,including difficulties in knowledge of the language,extra-linguistic knowledge and analysis ability.Based on Gile's Interpretation Comprehension Equation,the author masters skills in consecutive interpreting,and grasps the key to understand the source language: the familiarity of Chinese and English,mastery of encyclopedic knowledge and professional knowledge and adequate analysis ability.The author analyzes the difficulties from the perspectives of knowledge of the language,extra-linguistic knowledge and analysis ability,and proposes interpreting strategies,including improvement of knowledge of the language and the language level of the interpreter;acquisition of extra-linguistic knowledge so as to master basic encyclopedic knowledge and professional knowledge;and enhancement of analysis ability,to interpret based on the analysis of the situation and context so as to provide optimal interpreting service and ensure the interpreting quality.
