Between Smilarities And Dissimilarities-a Research On The Relationship Between Pattern Creation And Representation In Visual Image Design

The purpose of this paper is to study the relationship between pattern creation and representation in visual image design.The paper further investigated the formation and development of patterns in ancient China and early western countries,as well as the manifestation of modern Chinese and western patterns in visual communication design.The characteristics of contemporary visual communication design and patterns in contemporary visual communication design were analyzed.The paper also revealed the unity of the visible external forms and the invisible innate ideas,the deconstruction the external forms doing to the innate ideas and the integration of the external forms and the innate ideas in the visual image design.Five aspects of thinking methods of pattern creation were put forward in this paper,namely,the summary,the novel and reasonable,the technical language,symbols and connotation.The five aspects,which reflect the relationship between pattern creation and representation in visual image design,are the key of it and a unity featuring close connection.The paper advocates that people should achieve both the external forms with moderate expressive force and full expression of internal ideas and connotation in the process of artistic creation.The unity of external forms and innate ideas should also be realized in real life.
