The main target of teaching Chinese as a foreign language is to cultivate the verbal communicative competence of students.If the linguistic elements and rhetoric of Chinese as a foreign language could be grasped in the teaching so that oversea students could have rhetorical cognition to use figure of speech correctly based on the situation that the students could master and properly use the Chinese language elements,the students would be in better expression in language communication activities so that there would be better feedback on the communication activities and their language accomplishment could be improved.Figure of speech is important pragmatic knowledge.Along with relevant cultural content,language learning and understanding and application would be affected.Hence,it is necessary for oversea students to have systemic and comprehensive understanding on the figure of speech of Chinese in the process of learning Chinese knowledge.The basic target of oversea students whose Chinese have reached a certain level is to improve the textual expressive competence.The learning of figure of speech could effectively help learners to improve the textual expression ability to show the best speech expression effect.Hence,the writer thinks that the impact made by figure of speech of Chinese should not be ignored in the teaching process that Chinese is second language.The insufficient attention of figure of speech should be improved.Composition could directly reflect the usage of oversea students using figure of speech of Chinese and the real rhetorical competence of oversea students could be shown as well.In the paper,overall situation and error types of foreign students'use of various common figure of speech in their compositions are analyzed with the research of HSK dynamic composition corpus and the compositions of Central Asian and Russian students in Xinjiang University.What's more,there would be teaching suggestions from such three aspects as teachers,teaching materials and students.Hope it could be helpful for oversea students in improving the usage level of figure of speech of Chinese.
