As verse corpus,Collected Tang Poems contains sufficient linguistics phenomena deserving digging out.This essay aims to research the preposition of Tang Poems.The preposition system is divided into two parts,the inherit one which derives from ancient times and the new-born one,based on the three semantic categories,spatio-temporal domain,core meaning domain and relation-concept domain.The system is also used to make comparison with that of Zutangji(???),a non-verse corpus which is contemporary with Tang Poems,to grasp the preposition system of Tang dynasty fundamentally.Besides the introduction and the conclusion,the research is divided into four parts.The first part is on the inherit system,which derives from the ancient times and the mediaeval times.107 prepositions will be teased out,constructed by 47 ones in spatiotemporal domain,30 in core meaning domain and 30 in relation-concept domain.The main task of this part is to investigate the change of its function and to predict its develop trend.The second part is on the new-born system,which is combined by 38 members from 3 domains,12 ones in spatio-temporal domain,15 in core meaning domain and 11 in relationconcept domain.The main task of this part is to observe the new function of the inherit ones and the new-born prepositions.The function of new ones and its degree of grammaticalization,and the balance of distribution in the three domains will be the prime target.The third part is on the usage of the preposition.The usage contains three categories: the sequential use of preposition,the implicature of preposition and the ellipsis of object of the preposition.The sequential use of preposition can be divided into two categories based on the relationship of the prepositions: the coordinate and the cross-layer structure.The implicature of preposition can be divided into 3 sub-categories: the manner,the reason,the patience.5 prepositions can be attributed to the ellipsis of object of the preposition.Constrained by the verse pattern,the language take the above measures to make up the limit of the pattern when there is a conflict between the pattern and the express of message.The main task is to figure out the homogeneity and the heterogeneity of the sequential ones,the category of the implication of preposition and the constituent and function of the ellipsis of the objects.The last part is on the characteristic of the system.Based on the system of tang poems,we make comparison with that of Zutangji(???)synchronicly and that of mediaeval one diachronicly,to draw the conclusion on the characteristic of the preposition of Collected Tang Poems.
