Study Of Chinese Prepositions In Complete Collection Of Song Ci Poetry

The preposition system in the Song Dynasty occupies an important position in the history of Chinese language,serving as a bridge connecting the middle Chinese and the pre-modern Chinese.It is helpful for establishing the preposition system in the Song Dynasty by describing the constitution as well as the syntactic properties of prepositions in Song Ci Poetry.This thesis takes the prepositional system of Complete Collection of Song Ci Poetry as the research object,and adopts the research methods of description and interpretation,synchronic and diachronic,case study and systematic research.In this thesis,we will study the inheriting prepositions and the grammaticalization process of newborn preposition,and then summarize characteristics of the preposition system of Complete Collection of Song Ci Poetry.First of all,describe the overview of the inheriting preposition system of Complete Collection of Song Ci Poetry.The preposition system is divided into three major semantic domains: spatio-time,core meaning and relational concepts.Prepositions of different semantic types are classified and then analyzed with examples as well as descriptions.Secondly,explore the development of newborn prepositions from the perspective of grammaticalization theory.The prepositions in existence produce new grammatical meaning belonging to different semantic domains.The new analogical prepositions have two different sources.Some prepositions in Tang and Song Dynasty are followed by attached components,including "-qu(?)","-de(?)","que(?)","-zhe(?)" and "-le(?)" to form disyllabic prepositions.Derivation is one of the important ways for developing disyllabic and polysyllabic prepositions.Finally,compare and conclude the features of the preposition system.The subject,content and language style of the text all have a great influence on the appearance of the preposition system.The preposition system of Complete Collection of Song Ci Poetry inherits most of the prepositions from the Tang and Five Dynasties.There are competition and renewal of prepositions in the same semantic domain.The prepositional function groups of analogy emerge,and a large number of disyllabic prepositions are produced in this period of time.The preposition systems of different texts vary from one another.A preposition is inconsistently used in different texts.
