Image schema is an important concept in the fields of cognitive linguistics and cognitive semantics.Image schema is an abstract generalization of much experience of the objective world. It can organize and understand infinite experience with limited image schemas, which is conducive to people's perception and cognition of the external world.Translation as Communication across Languages and Cultures is a book published by German scholar Julianne House in 2016.Based on her years of translation experience, she has conducted a more balanced and comprehensive overview and review of translation studies from an interdisciplinary perspective. This paper selects the third part of the book(from Chapter 9 to Chapter 11)for translation. This part introduces the three paths of translation study in detail, including translation cognitive study, corpus based translation study and translation study under the background of globalization.Image schema theory provides a new perspective for translation studies and its application in translation studies is becoming more and more extensive. In this paper, five common image schemas, containment schema, force schema, path schemata,part-whole schema and up-down schema, are adopted to analyze the translation strategies and guide verb translation in Chinese.Through the comparative translation and analysis of verbs in the original text, this practice report has proved that the translation of verbs can make use of schema analysis to make the logic of the translation clearer under the guidance of image schema theory.Figure 5;Table 0;Reference 35.
