Bamboo is praised as “Three friends in the cold season” and “Four gentlemen of flowers”;It was the object repeatedly recited and depicted by ancient scholars,and its profound aesthetic connotation is worth exploring.From the perspective of the literary aesthetics,this paper investigated the aesthetic situation of bamboo in ancient China based on ancient Chinese literature texts and literati discussion,and organizing the aesthetic process of bamboo.On the one hand,it can provide some new ideas and opinions for the theoretical research of Chinese aesthetics and bamboo literature;on the other hand,it can lead people to make a “beauty tour” on bamboo,which can enhance people's understanding of Chinese traditional culture and bamboo aesthetic culture.The consciousness of bamboo aesthetics almost occurred together with the consciousness of humanity and literature.In the Wei and Jin dynasties,there was a prevailing custom of admiring bamboo.Under the influence of the demeanor of Wei and Jin dynasties,bamboo was endowed with the connotation of elegance and seclusion.At the level of literary works,aesthetic bamboo literature began to emerge in large numbers;as a cultural symbol at that time,the seven sages of bamboo grove were constantly attached with comments by later generations because their names were related to bamboo.Therefore,bamboo infused with richer aesthetic connotation.During the Tang and Song dynasties,the aesthetics of bamboo matured.The aesthetic connotation of bamboo has undergone a process from the diversification of metaphor to the strengthening of will;the aesthetic style showed a shift from a fresh beauty to a plain beauty.At the same time,the aesthetic connotation of bamboo became richer,and the images of “declining bamboo” and “evil bamboo” appeared.At this time,the representative figures,Bai Juyi and Su Shi,can be describe me as “man and bamboo integrated into one”,which reflecting people's love for bamboo in different ways.During the Yuan,Ming and Qing dynasties,the aesthetic connotation of bamboo was basically stable,so,people took different approaches from other aspects to awaken new aesthetic feelings,and the bamboo painting poetry went to prosperity.At this time,the aesthetics of bamboo also showed a tendency of secularization,and many creators took literature and art as means of making a living.Bamboo literature content was closer to life and was more reflected in popular literature such as novels and operas.Tang Yin,Xu Wei,and Zheng Banqiao can be regarded as the representatives of this stage.In analyzing the contribution of the literati for a specific aesthetic bamboo,this paper is mainly based on two main lines: first,to investigate the relationship between the aesthetic attitude and the bamboo;second,to explore the relationship between poetry and bamboo.From the perspectives of ideas,works,and writers,it focuses on the analysis of ancient Chinese literati's aesthetic attitude towards bamboo and the aesthetic style formed by reflecting these attitudes into poetry creation.
