Objective: To explore the dynamic change of school climate on relationship between social and emotional health influence and school adaptation in secondary school students and mediating effect of school climate on gender and personality.Methods:827 middle school students in Hunan Province were investigated by Delaware School Climate Scale(student volume)(DSCS-S),Depression Anxiety Stress Scale 21(DASS-21),Social Emotional Health Survey-Secondary(SEHS-S),Delaware Bullying Victimization Scale(student volume),NEO Five Factor Inven-tory Neurotic Subscale and Self-made demographic questionnaire.All participants were completed the surveys three waves continually within one year.Results:(1)At T1,in the various dimensions of the school climate,girls scored significantly higher than the boys in the Student-Student Relations and School Bullying dimension.The gender differences in Social Emotional Health(covitality)and school Bullying Victimization were extremely significant.The scores of girls' Social Emotional Health(covitality)were significantly higher than those of boys' covitality.The scores of male Bullying Victimization were significantly higher than those of female Bullying Victimization.At T2,the scores of girls' school climate and School Bullying dimensions were significantly higher than those of boys.Social Emotional Health(covitality)and academic achievement were significantly higher for girls than boys,and school Bullying Victimization were significantly higher than girls.At T3,girls' school climate total score,Student Engagement-schoolwide,Clarity of Expectation,School Safety,and School Bullying scores were significantly higher than boys'.Social Emotional Health(covitality)scores and academic achievement were significantly higher for girls than boys,Bullying Victimization,Depression and The anxiety scores for boys are significantly higher than for girls.(2)Three school climate scores were significantly associated with three Social Emotional Health,Anxiety,Depression,Academic performance,and Bullying Victimization.(3)In the various dimensions of the school climate,the time main effect of Student-Student Relations and Clarity of Expectation dimension is significant.In the indicators of social emotional health,the time main effect of Anxiety is significant.In the indicators of school adjustment,the main effect of the student's academic achievement is significant.(4)T1's Student-Student Relations predicted T2's Social Emotional Health(covitality),T1 Teacher-Student Relations predicted T2 academic achievement,T1 School Bullying predicted the T2 Bullying Victimization.T1 and T2 dimensions of school climate have no significant prediction of social emotional health and school adjustment of T3.(5)The teacher-student relationship and classmate relationship perceived by adolescents are conducive to their social emotional health and school adaptation.(6)Female's social and emotional health and school adjustment are better than male's.The gender partial regulates the impact of campus climate on social emotional health and school adaptation.Conclusion: School climate has a certain impact on social emotional health and school adaptation in secondary school students,and this impact has long-term effects.
