The Influence Of Bazin's Documentary Aesthetics On Chinese Film Directors

Based on the 100 th anniversary of Bazin's birth in 2018,this dissertation is going to reassess and sort out the influence of Bazin's aesthetic thought on Chinese film theory.Through the analysis of relevant literary texts and video texts,this dissertation will mainly focus on the works and creative styles of the fourth,fifth and sixth generations of directors in China,aiming to trace the connection between Bazin's documentary aesthetics and Chinese directors of different generations.Also,it will discuss the acceptance,questioning,praise and misinterpretation of Bazin's documentary aesthetics by Chinese filmmakers.This dissertation has four chapters.Among them,the introduction of the main introduction topics,research status and literature review at home and abroad,research ideas and methods,the significance of innovation.The first chapter mainly summarizes the development and evolution of Bazin's film aesthetics theory to present the evolution of Chinese film theory from the introduction of Bazin's documentary aesthetics to its gradual development in China.The second chapter analyzes the distinctive 1980 s and the fourth generation of directors.The second chapter,by analyzing the specific 1980 s and the fourth generation of directors,studies the personal experience and creative style of the fourth generation of directors,and profoundly reveals how Bazin's documentary aesthetic theory is accepted by the fourth generation of directors and presented in film and television works.The third chapter analyzes and presents the background and growth characteristics of the fifth generation of directors,among which Ying Ning and Yimou Zhang are the representatives of directors.Through the analysis of their film and television work,it explains how Bazin's documentary aesthetics influenced the fifth generation of directors in China.The fourth chapter,on the basis of the analysis of Bazin's documentary aesthetics theory in the first,second and third chapters,combined with the film and television works and narrative styles of the sixth-generation directors,analyzes and concludes how Bazin's documentary aesthetics is involved in the director's film and television creation in the works of the sixth-generation directors.
