With the acceleration of the process of global economic integration,China's reform and opening-up has entered its heyday.More and more foreign-funded enterprises and international institutions have begun to enter China to carry out commercial activities and charitable causes.As an international non-profit charity,Behring Global Educational Foundation serves people from developing countries and has more partners in China,such as Chinese Museums Association,China Wildlife Conservation Association,China Foundation for Disabled Persons,etc.In order to achieve greater development in China and help more people in need,Behring Global Educational Foundation hasspecifically requested Shanghai Oriental Translation Center Co.,Ltd.,where the writer works to translate itsBylaws into Chinese.This paper is an English-Chinese translation report on BYLAWS OF BEHRING GLOBAL EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION.It mainly consists of four chapters.The first chapter introduces the translation project's background and significance,and the translation requirements proposed by Behring Global Educational Foundation.The second chapter detailedly introduces the preparation before translation,which includes parallel texts' selection and study,translation theory's selection and research and glossary-making,and the proofreading after translation.The third chapter is the case study,which is to analyze the typical problems encountered in the translation of BYLAWS OF BEHRING GLOBAL EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION from the perspective of vocabulary and sentences.In the process of translation,the author solve these problems by looking up authoritative dictionaries,professional books and by choosing appropriate translation methods and strategies under the guidance of Skopos theory.In terms of the vocabulary,the difficulties are the translation of the legal terminology and business terms,archaic and Latin words,modal verbs,as well as the translation of juxtaposed synonym(near-synonym).And in terms of the sentences,the difficulty is the translation of passive sentences andlong and complicated sentences.The last chapter is the conclusion,which is to make a review and reflection on the whole process of this translation project,to summarize the methods of solving problems,and to share the writer's thoughts and understandings with readers.The translation of BYLAWS OF BEHRING GLOBAL EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION will not only help the Foundation to carry out activities in China,to achieve long-term development and benefit more people,but also has certain practical guiding value as domestic foundations and charities can learn something from the Bylaws when drafting their articles of association.
