A Translation Report On Amended And Restated Bylaws Of Wal-mart Stores:Application Of Word Class Conversion

This is a report on the translation of Amended and Restated Bylaws of Wal-Mart Stores.As one kind of legal texts,this Bylaws has such linguistic features as exactness,stability and formality.These features can be found both in English legal texts and Chinese legal texts.However,English and Chinese belong to different language systems,and they have differences in many aspects such as language expression and way of thinking etc.Thus some words had better be converted rather than be translated word for word where necessary in the translation of this Bylaws.In this report,the author explores the causes and classifications of word class conversion.Then the author discusses how word class conversion is used in the translation of this Bylaws.The author mainly applies the following conversion: from noun to verb,from adjective to verb,from verb to noun,from preposition to verb,from adjective to adverb and from adverb to adjective.And the author of the report hopes to give some beneficial references and inspiration for translation studies in the future.
