A Study Of Legal English Translation From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

With the rapid development of Chinese economy,the concept of law is deeply rooted in the heart of people,the translation of legal English is getting more and more people's and companies' attention and the number of the translation has increased year by year.Many contracts and agreements involved in legal English are translated into Chinese to meet the requirements of the modern society.The lexical characteristics and the complexity of syntactic structure make translation difficult,then how to proceed with legal English translation is worth exploring.In this thesis,lease agreement between Sanya La Costa Seaside Resort Hotel Management Co,LTD and Palau Ban Yan Tree Investment Company is selected as the translation target,the Skopos theory as the theoretical guidance.There are five chapters in this thesis:The first chapter introduces the general condition of the project,including the background and the source language;the second chapter tells the general condition of Skopos theory and the application of its three rules;the third chapter is about the process of translation,including the do's and don'ts before,during and after the translation;the fourth chapter is translation practice under the guidance of Skopos theory,including the application of Skopos rule,coherence rule and fidelity rule in the lease agreement;the fifth is the summary.
