According to the new English Curriculum Standard,Learning Extra-curriculum is not only a process in which students gradually master English knowledge and skills through English learning and practical activities,improve their practical language application ability,but also is a process of sharpening their will,cultivating their sentiment,expanding their horizon,enriching their life experience,developing their thinking ability,developing their personality and improving their humanistic quality.At present,the English learning of students in Yeya Middle School of Guiyang is mainly based on the English textbook,namely the first class.However,the students have not established a holistic cognition of English learning,they do not have a functional awareness of English learning,which makes English learning boring and inefficiency.In addition,the time in English teaching in junior high school is very limited.Most students are not very interested in learning English.To arouse the interest and enthusiasm in English learning,the research is based on Constructivism theory,aimed at exploring how to carry on Extra-curriculum Activities in English teaching guided by Constructivism theory,and to prove its feasibility.In this research,three questions will be solved and verify as follows:1)What's the current situation of the students' interest of English learning before this project?2)To what extent can the students' interest be aroused with the application of the extra-curricular activities?3)In what aspects do the students improve their English proficiency after providing this Extra-curricular Activities?This research is based on the framework of Constructivism theory,and aims to present the implementation of the Extra-curriculum Activities in English learning of junior middle school,to find out its positive significance and problems,and try to put forward some effective ways to arouse the interest in English learning: such as using English songs class,English poetry class,English drama class,English movies class to carry out the Extra-curriculum activities of English teaching in junior middle school.The author designed an empirical teaching research and implemented it in two classes in Grade 7 of Yeya Middle School.The experimental class(EC)and non-experimental class(NEC)both have 40 students.In the process of research,the author compared the result of pre-test and post-test between EC and NEC.In the late of experiment,the author interviewed four students and four teachers in experimental class randomly to collect their opinions on ECA.At the same time,this paper mainly studies the development of the Extra-curriculum activities of English teaching through four teaching procedure examples.The author used data comparison research,action research,investigation research and literature research in this paper and designed two tests and a questionnaire to collect the information.After the investigation,the author finds that Extra-curriculum activities of English teaching in Yeya Middle school of Guiyang can promote students' English learning largely.Students' interest in learning has been effectively improved.Students have made remarkable progress in listening,speaking,reading and writing.The ability of organization,cooperation and personality has been exercised and improved significantly.However,there are still some problems and disadvantages in the second English class: Firstly,the implementation of the second class needs to be improved.Secondly,the content of the class is not rich enough.Thirdly,the connection between the first class and the second class needs to be properly linked.Fourthly,there is a lack of effective long-term management mechanism in Extra-curriculum.According to these problems in practice and relevant research results,the author explored some solutions to solve.In spite of limited personal ability and limitations in the experiment,it is hoped that this thesis can provide referential value for the future researched about teaching.
