Research On The Literature Communication Of Singapore Chinese Literature Since 2000

As an important representative literary magazine as well as important medium for the communication and research of Chinese literature in Singapore,Singapore Chinese literature is the flagship publication of Singapore Association of Writers.Moreover,the remarkable achievements of Chinese literature in Singapore have also enriched the communication contents of this magazine.The relationships between Singapore Chinese literature,as the medium of communication one the one hand,and Chinese literature in Singapore,as the object of communication on the other hand,are mutual promotion,interaction and development.From the perspective of communication within literary theory,this paper selects the important country Singapore alongside “the Belt and Road”as well as the Chinese literary magazine Singapore Chinese literature which is funded by Singapore Association of Writers as the two objects for research.Make organic integration and research of “Chinese literature”and“Chinese media” under the strategic background of“the Belt and Road”.This paper not only examines the practical situation of their respective communication and development in Singapore in recent years,but also systematically explains the relationship between Chinese media and Chinese literature in Singapore.With the usage of interdisciplinary research model and the combination of literature theory research with media’s practical research,this paper analyzes the current situation of literature communication and discusses the possible literature communication model in the future.In terms of communication content,since Singapore Chinese literature has been published continuously for 40 years,it had presented a wide variety of Chinese literary works include essays,poems,novels,literary reviews and plays for the Chinese readers in Singapore.These communication contents intensively inflect some characteristics of Chinese literature in Singapore: Personal Writing,Island Writing and Urban Writing.Personal writing and island writing are embodied in the subject positioning and perspective selection of Chinese writers in Singapore.No matter the theme is big or small,their literary works often start from their personal life and emotional experience with distinct personal color and identity characteristics.Despite its small territory and mixed cultural background in the international community,Singapore has developed for more than 50 years as an independent country with its own unique culture and expression.The identification of Singapore has been graduallytransformed from marginalized identity anxiety to the subjectivity and self-consciousness.As a small “island” in the culture,Singapore has its unique model towards itself and the world.Xinhua writers constantly strengthen the “Singapore consciousness” and the characteristics of island writing in their creation.Urban writing is an important subject of Chinese literature in Singapore,and the reflection of urban life and description of urban memory are frequently selected by the writers.With the short form of flash fiction and poetry,realistic artistic aesthetic is reflected in urban writing,it seems to be the small and delicate urban landscape paintings with tropical charm of Singapore.From the perspective of communicators,Singapore Chinese literature forms the creative group for this magazine,which makes all the writers who are influenced by its communication activities bear the brand of Singapore Chinese literature.The preference for poetry and mini novel(including flash fiction)as well as concentration on the creation and research about local content will promote the development of the Chinese language in Singapore.Almost none of these literary creators are professional writers,and they are amateurs compared with their counterparts in mainland China.It is obviously not easy for these creators since many of their literary creations have been made after work.However,there are some excellent writers among the“Singapore Chinese literature writers” group such as Huang Mengwen and Xi Nier.Their excellent works have gained a high reputation in the world Chinese literary world.In terms of the influence from communication,the mass media such as Singapore Chinese literature is one of the important participants for the expansion of communication type.From the beginning of literary creation which is self-centered communication to the interpersonal communication among small number of writers,and then comes to the spontaneously formed group communication which is marked by the common style or creative characteristics.From the organized literary group’s communication to the mass communication which is promoted and participated by the mass media.Singapore Chinese literature also has played as one of the gatekeepers during communication process of the re-construction of native literature and discourse.Chinese writers in Singapore have been reinventing their literary traditions and reimagining themselves.Besides resetting language,they also have been creating a set of discourse and text which will be suitable for local life and the expression of local cultural experience respectively.Singapore Chinese literature is the “guide”and“instructor”for the development of Chinese literature as well as the literary cultivationamong Chinese readers in Singapore.It plays as the guiding role for the promotion and development of the Chinese language in Singapore.Moreover,it also provides a platform and channel for the creation,communication and development of new literary writers.
