With China's booming economy, the Chinese civil aviation industry has made great progress and has received more attention in recent years. However, helicopter air ambulance,as an important part of civil aviation industry, urgently requires further development due to its late start and inadequate system. In the course of development, there is increasing recognition of the importance of learning the mature technology, operational regulation and system from developed countries represented by the United States. As a result,it is no doubt that the translation of civil aviation literature makes great contributions to the progress of the aviation industry in China, and therefore the research on translation skills creates practical value and great significance. The report is based on the translation of an advisory circular of Helicopter Air Ambulance issued by Federal Aviation Administration. The source text contains plenty of formal and specialized words, complex structures as well as implied information and logic. In view of the above characteristics and difficulties, the report analyzes and summarizes the translation skills in terminology, long sentences and logic from the perspective of vocabulary, syntax and text so as to improve the quality of translation. The report shows that the translation quality can be improved by adhering to professionalism and adopting flexible translation skills mainly guided by the strategy of explicitation and the theory of functional equivalence. Moreover, the conclusion and suggestion of the report are intended to provide reference for the translation practice and research in the industry.
