Research On Sun Qiangming's Life And Works

Sun Qiangming was a well-known scholar and educator of Wenzhou in the late Qing Dynasty.He was born in a famous academic family in the late Qing Dynasty.His nephew,Sun Yirang,devoted himself to the study of confucian classics and textual criticism.Yirang became a great confucian scholar of the late Qing Dynasty and won Zhang Taiyan's reputation as "outstanding scholar of three Hundred Years".There are a lot of studies of The Sun Family in academic circles,but most of them focus on Sun Yirang,or his father Sun Yiyan.Because Sun Yirang and Sun Yiyan's light is too bright,they obscure other scholars of The Sun Family.Making the relevant research to be still lacking.Sun Qiangming had a remarkable life.He lived in the late Qing Dynasty.In that time the Qing Court was in the trouble of internal strife and external turmoil.We turn back to his life,Sun's career could be divided into three distinct phases:attending school,pursuing an official career and teaching.He served on Qing Dynasty as an education executive in Guangxi province,bachelor of hanlin academy and a vice-examiner in the military commission.He experienced the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom rebellion,the opium war,the Money society uprising and other important events in modern Chinese history.After he left office and returned to his hometown,he devoted himself to writing books,teaching and educating.He went to many academies in Zhejiang province,Jiangsu province and Shanghai.He contributed a lot to the educational cause in the late Qing Dynasty.Sun Qiangming also made achievements in poems,essays,collation,study of confucian classics and history,collection of local literature.Many of his works remain,including his own collection of poems and essays named Hai ri lou yi ji,his collection of Wenzhou poets and their works named Poem Theory of Dongjia,and his study of ancient philosophers named The additions and corrections of Lushi Chunqiu.He also collected Wenzhou local historical data to write the Wenzhou local history,named the history of East Ou.It is certain that Sun Qiangming is a scholar and educator with political and historical status in the late Qing Dynasty.I am going to search and read all kinds of literature materials written by Sun Qiangming,as well as the relevant literature materials.My paper will make a detailed analysis of his family background and friends.And makeing a brief textual research on Sun Qiangming's many writings.I hope it will complete Sun Qiangming's personal experience,historical image and academic contribution.Meanwhile,I hope it will complete the study of Wenzhou local historical figures and the traditional literati group in late Qing Dynasty.
