A Study On C-E Translation Of Children's Literature From The Perspective Of Bourdieu's Sociology

In recent years,there are more researchers studying the translation of children's literature.Nowadays,under the background of Chinese culture going global,it's necessary and urgent to do researches on C-E translation of children's literature.Since Bronze and Sunflower,translated by British sinologist,Helen Wang,and published in 2015,it has been well-received among English readers,and awarded several international prizes.This thesis intends to study its success from the perspective of Bourdieu's sociology by analyzing the fields,capitals,and Helen Wang's habitus as well as her translation strategies to give more enlightenments to the going global of Chinese children's literature.There are several findings after the study: at first,fields of the source text and target text countries,and fields of children's literature play a positive role in the overseas dissemination of Bronze and Sunflower.In addition,capitals of Bronze and Sunflower,the original author,the translator and the presses at home and abroad play an important role in the going out of Bronze and Sunflower.What's more,Helen Wang's habitus and the influence on her translation strategies play a crucial role in the popularity of Bronze and Sunflower.All in all,it's interactions of the three factors that make Bronze and Sunflower successfully output to Britain and America.The enlightenments are as follows: firstly,when selecting Chinese children's literary works to be translated,we should consider if the economic,political and cultural capital of the target text country are advantageous to its overseas dissemination.Secondly,the source text,the original author and the translator are supposed to possess certain economic capital,cultural capital,social capital and symbolic capital to make the translation more convincing and attractive.Thirdly,to cooperate with world famous publishing houses of children's literature is very necessary and important.Fourthly,for the translation of Chinese children's literature,translators ought to flexibly combine foreignization with domestication,but mainly adopt domestication.
