Driven by the wave of globalization,English,as a versatile language, plays an important role of intermediary in this era.For undergraduate students,English learning has become an essential part whether for the purposes of completing their studies, studying abroad, leisure or entertainment. So,it is necessary to discuss the identifying and expressing process of information needs of undergraduate students during English learning, which would enrich the theoretical system in the field of information needs and information behavior research. On the other hand,To master undergraduates' English learning information needs and resource selection for satisfying their information needs, academic libraries and other related institutional sectors can better allocate resources and carry out service work..Therefore,this paper starts with samples of 17 undergraduate students who had English learning experiences. This paper mainly uses the qualitative research method to collect data.It uses grounded theory to refine categories, and summarizing topics. This paper focuses on five contents, the process of English learning information behavior, the psychological process of needs, the selection of learning resources, the characteristics of information needs and the influencing factors of information needs. The results of this paper include:(1)In order to explore the related questions of undergraduate students' English learning information needs,it is necessary to observe their information behaviors.Undergraduate students' English learning information behavior is an explicit way of identifying and expressing their information needs. The information behavior process of English learning have four stages, starting, selecting, implementing and asking for help.Such stages are not linear. When undergraduates carry out information behaviors, they are also gradually constructing the process of identifying and expressing their information needs, and finally making them satisfied.(2)In different context, undergraduates' English learning information needs will be different. In the task-based context, the characteristics of the characteristics of English learning information needs are as follows.(1)Questions which were shown in the past examinations are the central point of all information needs;(2)The form of examination determines the selection of information source;(3)Interpersonal information source plays a role of reference and intermediary. In the daily context, the characteristics are as follows.(1)Diversity;(2)Indirection and post-recognition;(3)Experientialism and continuity.(3)There are three types of factor that influence the information needs and resource selection during the English learning of undergraduate students.First is Personal factors, which includes emotional experience,self-schema,interest,sense of accomplishment and willpower.Second is Social factors, which includes macroscopic social environment and microscopic social environment.Macroscopic social environment includes the global environment, information technology environment.Microscopic social environment includes the language and cultural experience environment, the growth and education environment.Third is Resource attribute, which includes price, authority and reliability, novelty and timeliness,as well as availability and accessibility.(4)Facing the construction of English learning resources, the relevant institutional sectors of universities should take into account undergraduates' English learning information needs in different contexts and different English proficiency requirements, and work together to meet the various English learning information needs of undergraduates.
