Translationese In E-C Translation

Translationese is a common problem in most translators' translation process.It means that translators often transplant source text's linguistic forms and language rules mechanically to the target text,which makes the translation less readable.Based on studies of contrast between English and Chinese and the translation practice of Chucks! The Phenomenon of Converse: Chuck Taylor All Stars,the author has explored the solutions of translationese in E-C translation.In the process of translation,the main problem that the author encountered is how to solve translationese,which includes translationese caused by over-faithful translation of connectives and relatives,the neglect of the differences in logical relationships between Chinese and English and the neglect of the differences in the use of passive voice between Chinese and English.According to studies of contrast between English and Chinese and the author's practical experience,the author came to the following conclusions:(1)Connectives and relatives are widely used in English,but not in Chinese.Therefore,in English-Chinese translation,translators should be cautious about connectives and relatives,not all of them can be translated.(2)In E-C translation,translators should pay attention to differences in logical relationships between English and Chinese.Translators should try to put reasons in the front of sentences and results in the back.They also need to express other relative things first in sentences,then important things.(3)In E-C translation,translators should transform passive voice into active and passive forms respectively according to the corresponding situation,not all of them can be translated into passive meanings.
