The variety and complicacy of adverbial clauses are showed in English academic writing.As one of the three major types of clauses,the adverbial clause is an indispensable part in English writing.Adverbial clauses are often used to modify the main sentences in the reporting texts,and they differ in their function and structure.Adverbial clauses can strengthen the rigor and accuracy of the language.Adverbial clauses in the educational texts also have these traits.Due to the different structures and expressions between English and Chinese,adverbial clauses in English and Chinese are quite different from each other.Therefore,in the E-C(English-Chinese)translation of adverbial clauses,it is necessary to not only accurately grasp the semantic meaning of the original texts,but also pay attention to their logical relationship.Only by choosing the appropriate translation method according to the context,can the original meaning be accurately conveyed while the Chinese text is consistence with the reading habits of Chinese readers.There are several researches on the Chinese translation of adverbial clause in the translation studies.This report is a further development on the E-C translation of adverbial clauses,which is based on previous researches and traits of educational texts.This paper focuses on the translation of Education for Life and Work: Developing Transferable Knowledge and Skills in the 21 st Century,presenting a detailed analysis of translation strategy of adverbial clause.This paper is divided into four chapters.The first chapter introduces the translation task briefly,and the second chapter briefly describes the translation process.The third chapter conducts specific case analysis in the methods of linear translation,reorganization,replacement,conversion and omitted translation to explore the translation strategies of Adverbial Clause.The fourth chapter summarizes the translation practice.The report explores the E-C translation strategy of adverbial clauses,which aims to provide references to the E-C translation of adverbial clauses in educational texts.Besides,the translation work would enhance the reader's understanding of international education development.
