| The internationalization of higher education has become an increasingly important topic drawing much attention from all countries in the world.The United States has achieved tremendous success in higher education,the quality of which is mainly assured through education accreditation system.Higher education evaluation has frequently been discussed in China these years and plays a vital role in promoting higher education.Therefore,it is necessary for us to absorb advanced experience.Mapping the Landscape: Accreditation and the International Dimensions of U.S.Higher Education is published by NAFSA.As an academic report,it is different from other types of texts in choice of words and building of sentences,requiring the translator to be equipped with background knowledge in the international dimensions of higher education.Meanwhile,the translator need to accurately understand the concepts of the original text,and convey them to target readers in the academic language of rigorous norms.Set out from analyzing the features of the words,phrases and sentences in the original text,this practice report includes typical examples classified into substantive clause,attributive clause and adverbial clause.With parallel texts,it aims to distinguish the language features of such accreditation articles concerning the international dimensions of higher education and try to find and conclude solutions of the difficulties the translator was confronted with in translation process,providing reference for translating this type of texts. |
