Anxiety,fear and nervousness are common phenomena in senior high school students' speaking in English class.This kind of nervousness often brings about potential negative effects on students' communication.Therefore,it is particularly important to help students overcome their speaking-in-class anxiety.As English teachers,we have the responsibility to pay attention to students' learning emotions and help them develop positive emotional attitudes as much as possible.This study is based on a summary of relevant literature on foreign language anxiety,then taking senior high school students from a middle school in Ganzhou as the research object,and based on the foreign language classroom anxiety scale,to understand the degree of anxiety in senior high school students' speaking through a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods,in order to explore the factors affecting senior high school students' speaking-in-class anxiety and some strategies that can relive their anxiety.Meanwhile,further interviews were conducted to investigate the factors of anxiety.The paper focuses on the following three questions: 1.How senior high school students are anxious about speaking in English class? 2.What are the factors that affect senior high school students' speaking-in-class anxiety ? 3.How to relieve their anxiety? This study analyzes the factors that cause students' anxiety from two aspects:the internal and external factors of students themselves.Through investigation and analysis,it is found that internal factors mainly include students' personality,self-perception,learning motivation,fear of making mistakes and fear of negative evaluation,while external factors include teachers and classroom,language itself,parents and social culture.At the same time,it explores some practical teaching strategies to alleviate the anxiety of language learners,including different suggestions to teachers,students and parents.As a teacher,we should close teacher-student relationship,establish a relaxed and harmonious classroom atmosphere,then we should increase the interest and flexibility of classroom teaching,and make theteaching content closer to real life,besides,we should also use lexical chunk learning strategies to encourage students to read and recite more and implement cooperative learning strategies.Students themselves should also start from changing their attitudes towards learning English and correctly view anxiety.As parents,we should set up a correct view of success,pay attention to fostering children' s interest in learning English,and mobilize their enthusiasm for learning English.I expect this paper can devote to improve the efficiency of English learning in class,and hope to improve the comprehensive English level of senior high school students.
