A Practice Report On Interpretation Of Renewable Energy Lectures From The Perspective Of Interpretive Theory

Interpretive theory claims that interpreting is a complicated intercultural communication with language as the carrier instead of mechanical trans-coding or simple metaphrase.It also holds that interpreting targets the sense of language rather than linguistic forms or its literal meaning.Therefore,interpreters should convey the sense by breaking the constraint of language forms and extracting core information to realize the communicative purpose of discourse.By its innovative hypothesis of deverbalization,interpretive theory unfolds a brand-new scenario for interpreting research and exerts an extensive influence on worldwide interpreting study and teaching.It is still referred as a guidance in today's world along with increasing intercultural exchanges.From September to November,the author served as an interpreter for the lecture series themed on "Seminar on Renewable Energy Utilization and Development for Developing Countries 2017",which was sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of China and had Hunan International Business Vocational College as the undertaker.The seminar mainly comprised academic lectures and free discussions,both in the form of consecutive interpreting.Also there was a great difference in educational and cultural backgrounds of the participants from 23 countries,bringing about difficulties in interpreting.However,drawing on her after-lecture revision and comparison,as well as the audience's feedback,the author found that interpretive theory can be considerably effective and inspiring in interpreting by solving major problems,improving interpreting quality and achieving communicative purpose.Hence,in this report,typical examples are presented and analyzed under the guidance of interpretive theory to illustrate its effectiveness and instructive role in interpreting.The case analysis is conducted with useful tactics and strategies in deverbalization to achieve communicative purpose.Meanwhile,some suggestions are proposed to solve difficulties in interpreting concerning improving linguistic competence,enlarging cognitive supplement and the like.With the guidance of interpretive theory,this report analyzes the application of the theory and its efficacy in real practice based on the interpreter's recordings and lecture notes.Meanwhile,interpreting strategies and learning skills are introduced in the hope of providing experience for future practice and learning.
