In recent years, the domestic medical research is continuously becoming integrated into international standards, and the demand for medical interpreting is gradually increasing. This report, under the guidance of interpretive theory, takes a lecture--"Adolescent Medicine" given by Professor William Paul Adelman as a case and analyzes the practice of consecutive interpreting for medical lectures. The report consists of five parts including an overview of the interpreting task and the applicable interpretive theory,a description of the interpreting process, case analysis and a summary.Through the analysis of the lecture and the on-site interpreting, the interpreter concludes that medical lecture has its own features, namely typical in wording, abundant in information sources, diversified in content and over-colloquial in expression.Meanwhile, the target language is prone to problems such as improper wording and incorrect expressions. Thus when conducting such interpreting, the interpreter does not need to excessively focus on the correspondence of words, but should grasp the overall lecture, and follow the principle of deverbalisation and achieve the equivalence of sense,so as to integrate the information given by the source language, and normalize the expression in target language. Therefore,in order to fulfill an interpreting task successfully,an interpreter is expected to adopt available interpreting strategies for medical lecture interpreting, such as improving the medical professionalism, correcting the deviation in fully understanding source language, paying attention to the differences between two languages and making full use of the resources in the lecture. It is hoped that the research can offer some reference for further study in related areas.
