As China grows stronger,more and more foreigners choose Chinese as their second language or interest.At the same time,Chinese fever also promotes the vigorous development of TCFL.Teaching materials as an essential tool in TCFL,has been highly valued by scholars and researchers.Reading course is a compulsory course in TCFL,its importance is self-evident.As an essential tool of auxiliary teaching,the quality of Chinese reading materials should be concerned.Texts as the main part of reading materials,affect the quality of the whole textbook.Therefore,whether the articles selected in reading textbooks are appropriate or not,it is a problem which should be pay attention to in the compilation of textbooks.In addition,for intermediate stage and advanced stage of Chinese learning,the merits and demerits of the selection of teaching materials will have a certain impact on the learning effect of students,so it is necessary to carry out targeted research on the selection of reading materials in different stages.This paper takes the intermediate and advanced reading series of Developing Chinese as the research object,analyzes its selected articles.At the same time,through the questionnaire and interview of teachers and students,to understand the most real feelings of students and teachers on selected texts.The purpose of this paper is to get valuable enlightenment from the analysis of the above two aspects,to provide valuable suggestions and new ideas for the selection of reading materials for TCFL.The article is divided into five parts:The first chapter is the introduction,mainly including the background of the topic,the purpose and significance of the research,the related research review,the research content and methods,and the innovation of the research.The second chapter is the text selection analysis of the intermediate and advanced reading series of Developing Chinese.It mainly analyzes the textbook from the aspects of theme,genre,source,new words,number of words in the article,value orientation,etc.through data statistics,and summarizes them.The third chapter is the survey and interview analysis of textbook users,mainly through the questionnaire and interviews to teachers and students,to understand the types of selected articles that foreign students like and the suggestions of students and teachers on the selection of reading materials.In the aspect of questionnaire,it mainly involves the following aspects: theme,genre,length,source,new words,language style,etc.In addition to the above aspects,the interview also includes the evaluation of students and teachers on the compilation of selected texts.In the aspect of student interview,it also includes the students' detailed opinions on each subject,genre,source,the reasons for their likes and dislikes as well as their understanding of the image of China reflected in the textbooks.The fourth chapter is the inspiration of the compilation of the selected articles in the intermediate and advanced reading materials,mainly based on the conclusion of the second chapter and the third chapter,as well as the data provided by the predecessors,to summarize the enlightenment for the compilation of selection of intermediate and advanced reading materials.It mainly includes five parts: about theme,genre and language style;about source;about new words and length;about value orientation and national image;about others.The fifth chapter is the conclusion,summarizes the research results,puts forward the research deficiencies and prospects.
