In recent years, new media develop rapidly, and documentaries have become one of the important tools for international cultural communication. As China continues to open to the outside world, increasing domestic documentaries have been introduced abroad. However, the quality of the translation leaves much to be improved and there is still much progress to be made. This paper is a translation practice report on Chinese-English translation. The author chose the caption of Aerial China as the translation task and focused on the second episode-Shaanxi and the sixth episode-Shanghai as the key translation objects.Generally speaking, the language of these two episodes is simple, but with a combination of short and long sentences, some culture-loaded vocabularies and the use of figures of speech, such as metaphor, personification, parallelism and so on,it's still not easy to translate. Moreover,in the process of translation, translators not only have to convey the original information with concise language, but also maintain the original ecological environment to reproduce the original style of writing, and eventually achieve the balance between the original language ecology and the target language ecology.Based on the Eco-Translatology,this report analyzes the translation strategies and methods used in this English translation process on special sentence patterms, rhetorical devices and cultural terms from the three dimensions of language, culture and communication. And verifies the guiding function of the three-dimensional transformations in the whole translation practice.Through this report, the author hopes to provide a broader perspective for translation studies on the caption of domestic documentaries,so as to improve the quality of English translation of domestic documentaries.
