Practice Report On Simulated Interpretation Of President Xi Jinping's Speech At 2018 Beijing Summit Of The Forum On China-Africa Cooperation

This thesis is a practice report on simulated consecutive interpretation from Chinese to English.It takes the opening speech at 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation as the practice material.Based on the review of the simulated interpretation practice,this report uses the ideas from schema theory which has developed in cognitive psychology and those are suitable for interpreting practice.From three aspects,namely the linguistic schema,content schema and formal schema,this thesis has discussed on pre-interpreting preparation and the problems to be solved during the interpretation.This report emphasizes the words selection under the linguistic schema,the interpretation caused by different cultural backgrounds under the content schema and the three interpretation methods of culture-loaded words:create a new cultural schema of target language,fully correspond to the cultural schema of target language and cross-correspond to the cultural schemata of target language,and the auxiliary role of formal schema in discourse and interpretation.Through the practice,it comes to the conclusion that interpreters can carry out systematic pre-interpreting preparation and flexible in-interpreting processing with the help of schema theory.The wider the knowledge network formed by the schema system,the smoother the interpreters' tasks will be.Summarizing the experience and deepening the application of schema theory in the field of interpretation,it is hoped that this report can serve as a reference for future interpretation.
