With the accelerated process of the globalization, innovation has become a significant power for promoting faster and sustainable development of all countries. Therefore, academic exchanges at all levels are increasingly valued. However,in recent years, while pursuing academic progress, the phenomenon of academic misconduct in various countries has become more and more rampant, which not only damages the academic atmosphere, hinders research innovation, harms the credibility of intellectuals, but also harms the development of the country and society.Academic misconduct is not a unique phenomenon to any individual countries and departments, but a common problem in scientific research work in all countries. The translation is not only a service but also a manifestation of professional responsibility and attitude. The translation materials of this report,Understanding Academic Misconduct and Academic Misconduct within Higher Education in Canada, are selected from the core journal of Canada,Canadian Journal of Higher Education, belonging to informative text translation.Doing well in informative text translation and transferring the contents of the source texts professionally and accurately not only effectively promote academic exchanges at home and abroad, but also provide some references for English translation on informative texts, which has definite practical significance.Informative text translation focuses on the objectivity of the delivered content, aiming at providing readers with complete and clear information. In the process of translation, under the guidance of Eugene Nida's Functional Equivalence Theory, the translator summarizes the difficulties in the translation process from three aspects,i.e.,vocabulary,syntax,and text, and puts forward corresponding solutions. In terms of vocabulary, there are a large number of educational terms and author names to be translated in the soruce text.In view of this difficulty, the translator uses literal translation and free translation to achieve lexical equivalence by reading a large number of parallel texts and references. In terms of syntax, the difficulty lies in how to deal with a large number of long, complex sentences, including compound sentences and passive sentences. To this end,the translator adopts the translation techniques of sentence division, sentence reconstruction, and sentence conversion to maximize the syntactic equivalence of the translation from English to Chinese. In terms of the text, guided by the principle of text equivalence, the translator strives to reproduce the effects felt by the original readers by demonstrating the logic and writing style faithfully. The translator hopes that the above translation methods and skills will be of some reference value to translators engaged in informative text translation.
