| As the core driving force of the fourth industrial revolution,artificial intelligence advancement has become China's development agenda.According to the New Generation of Artificial Intelligence Development Program formulated by China's government,China will evolve into the world's major AI innovation center.This translation report is written on the basis of the translation of an academic paper on artificial intelligence and social advancement which outlines the social role of artificial intelligence in the digital age and the essential of balancing the relationship between artificial intelligence and humans.The translation of this article could contribute to promote academic exchanges between China and the West about artificial intelligence advancement.From the perspective of translation shifts theory,this translation report attempts to discuss some translation shifts and put forward corresponding strategies of translation shifts based on the academic paper Artificial Diplomacy: A Guide for Public Officials to Conduct Artificial Intelligence(Excerpts).For level shifts,this report explores the accurate representation of academic specific information from the source text.For category shifts,this report,with reference to structure shits,class shifts and units shifts,analyses some strategies of translation shifts between passive voice and active voice,modifier-core structure and subject-predicate structure,postpositive attributive and prepositive attributive,adjectives and verbs,nouns and verbs,lexis and phrase as well as long-sentence and sentence group.Through the guidance of translation shifts theory,the accuracy of specific concepts,text symmetry,the linguistic localization of the source text and other translation issues are all addressed equivalently during the translation progress.It is hoped that this report could provide some informative translation strategies for the translation project of academic text on artificial intelligence. |
