In the current world,the development of science and technology is taking an increasing proportion in the overall development of a country.Artificial intelligence has brought convenience to mankind and profoundly changed the trend of the development of human society.This article is a translation practice report.It selected the first and second chapters of Artificial Intelligence Foundations: Learning from Experience as translation materials,which belongs to scientific and technological text with deliberate expressions,and rigorous logic.This text contains a great number of passive sentences,subordinate clauses,long and complex sentences,which are aspects that the translator needs to pay attention to in the process of translation.This practice report is divided into five parts: introduction,description of translation task,translation process,case analysis and conclusion.The fourth part is the main content.The translator studies and analyzes the key and difficult points who encountered in the translation process.This practice report analyzes the translation methods from two levels:lexical level and syntactic level.At the lexical level,combining with the characteristics of Chinese and English language,analyses how the translator dealt with the adoption of word extension and transformation of part of speech.At the syntactic level,the report analyses how the translator adopted translation strategies like division,reorganization in order to translate passive sentences,attributive clauses,adverbial clauses and long complex sentences correctly.This practice report makes a detailed analysis and comes to the conclusion on the problems that the translator met in the translation process.It is expected that this report will provide some new insights into the translation of scientific and technological texts and provide some reference value for the research of similar texts.
